Udupi is loveable tourist spot. The temples, churches and beaches are the major attraction in this part of the Konkan coastal belt. Lord Krishna of Udupi has a magnetic appeal. Other important temples are Ambalpady, Kumbashi Sri Mahaganapathi, Siddhi Vinayaka temple in Hattiangady, Kollur Mookambika temple, Basadis in Karkala and the monolith statue of Gomateshwara, churches and mosques and other religious centres are worth seeing. Without seeing the wood carvings, splendid architecture of temples of more than thousand year, one’s visit to this region will be incomplete. The temples have contributed in preserving the local culture for the next generation. The wood carvings in  temples and Udupi Mutts have gained international fame all over. In addition, houses built on the basis of local architecture also work as tourist attraction.
